Household Hazardous Waste

As a city within Grant County, all city residents are eligible to receive services offered by Grant County. Household hazardous waste collection is one of those services. Grant County Solid Waste holds two to three Household Hazardous Waste Collection Events each year.

Instructions:
  • Household waste only
  • No containers larger than 5 gallons
  • Waste must be in trunk of car or pickup bed
  • Containers will not be returned

  • corrosives
  • fire extinguishers
  • household cleaners
  • latex paint
  • oil based paint
  • oil stain
  • old gasoline
  • paint thinners
  • pesticides, herbicides
  • photo chemicals, pool/spa chemicals
  • road flares
  • elemental mercury
  • mercury thermometers and thermostats
  • rechargeable batteries, lithium-ion batteries
  • all mercury-containing lights (Fluorescent bulbs/tubes, CFLs, HIDs— maximum of 10 lights per person—Do not tape lights together), 
  • waste oil if contaminated with brake fluid, brake cleaner, antifreeze, solvents, carburetor cleaner, water, or degreasers
