EPD Talks Halloween!

With Halloween quickly approaching, the Ephrata Police Department would like to share some safety tips and information about a couple of local events.

Every year, Ephrata sees little zombies, ghosts, witches, superheroes, and tons of other spooky characters. We see them crossing our busy streets in their hunt for goodies. And every year, we hope that this year there will be no injuries.

Trick or Treating Safely
  • Use crosswalks where ever available
  • Do not let your child run across any street
  • If there isn't a crosswalk, carefully cross the road AFTER checking left and right
  • Make sure oncoming drivers acknowledge you BEFORE crossing (make eye contact!)
  • Don't visit any house that is not well lit
  • Kids under 12 should be accompanied by an adult
  • Inspect candy before kids start eating it
Costumes
  • Make sure costumes fit the child, tripping is no fun
  • Add reflective tape or glowsticks to children's costumes to make them more easily visible
  • Add extra layers if it proves to be a colder night
  • Clip a tag onto younger/non-verbal kids with their name, address, and phone number just in case they get separated from your group

Please share this information with family and friends. Paw Patrol's Chase and EPD staff are looking forward to seeing you and your family at EPD’s booth at the Trick or Treat on the Track on Sat. Be safe this year and

Happy Halloween
