Property & Evidence

The Ephrata Police Department's Property and Evidence Unit has several functions. The main duty is to ensure that all evidence collected by officers in the course of their duties is securely held and accounted for. Another responsibility is to store inmate and found property under safekeeping until such property can be returned to its rightful owner.

Evidence Releases

Before evidence can be released, the case must be adjudicated with no pending appeal or the Ephrata Police Department must receive written permission to release any evidence from the Grant County Prosecutor's Office. If more than one defendant is involved in a case, evidence will be held until all pending charges against all defendants are adjudicated. After the case is adjudicated and permission to release the evidence is received, the Evidence Manager will send out a postcard notification giving the property owner 60 days from the date the postcard is sent to claim the property.

For other property and evidence questions, please contact Ephrata Police Department Monday through Friday 8 am to 4:30 pm at (509) 754-2491 or at contact@ephrata.org.
