Recruitment

MOSES LAKE is hosting Public Safety Testing on May 15th - https://www.publicsafetytesting.com/events/13408

The Ephrata Police Department continuously accepts applications for entry-level and lateral positions . Applications received when there is no open position are held for future openings.

Entry-level applicants apply through PublicSafetyTesting.com. This process includes a written exam, physical ability test, and a personal history statement. PST allows applicants to submit their applications and scores to various *pre-selected* law enforcement agencies. Each agency has its own determined timeframe for how long an applicant will remain on the agency’s candidate list. Applicants stay on our applicant list for 12 months.

Lateral applicants are directed to contact Human Resources directly to complete the required city application.

When a position opens, Human Resources will pull the most current applicant list from PublicSafetyTesting.com and include any lateral applications received. This list usually encompasses the last 6-12 months depending on the last open position. Once the list is received, command staff vet each applicant’s personal history statement and overall application. After all applications have been vetted, the passing applicants will be invited to participate in an oral board interview with a member of the police department command staff, a police supervisor, a citizen representative. The top candidates from the oral board interview will then have an interview with the selection panel which usually includes the police chief, the city administrator, and the mayor. The selection panel will then choose which applicant will be given a condition job offer.

A conditional job offer means that the applicant will be hired upon the satisfactory passing of a criminal and financial background check, polygraph examination, and psychological and medical evaluations.
