Chief's Message

It is my honor to write this message on behalf of the dedicated professionals of the Ephrata Police Department.  Ephrata is a proud community with a rich history of collaboration, determination, and civic responsibility.  As the Gateway to the Columbia Basin and Grant County seat, we serve not only our residents, businesses, schools, stakeholders, and service/faith organizations, but also the thousands of visitors we welcome to the area every year for recreation and relaxation.

The Ephrata Police Department is an accredited law enforcement agency that provides our customers with a modern police force ready to face the challenges of present-day policing.  Our goal is to encourage an environment of ethical, equitable, respectful, and empathetic practices within our community and our department.  We cannot do this alone.  Productive and effective community/police relationships are the outcome of inclusion, communication, and participation.  Each of these elements is necessary to make Ephrata as safe as possible.

We are proud to be part of the City of Ephrata municipal team and work closely with each city department to ensure we are providing the best value to our shareholders.  We embrace our partnerships with local, state, and federal government agencies/organizations and strive to make these interactions mutually beneficial.

Your police department is a talented team of public servants – outstanding individuals doing a great job and making Ephrata a desirable place to live, work, worship, recreate, and conduct business.  It is my privilege to serve with them.

I appreciate any opportunity to meet with the community.  If you are part of a group or organization that would be interested in my presence at a meeting or event, please feel free to contact me at (509) 754-2491 or by email at kadkinson@ephrata.org.
