Everyone loves our pets. Dogs over six months of age residing within the city limits must be licensed. Licenses may be purchased at the Police Department and are good for the life of your pet.
Please provide Proof of Rabies Vaccination at the time of licensing.
The fees are as shown below:
If your pet is missing, you may contact the Ephrata Police Department, Monday through Friday from 8 am to 4:30 pm. If your dog has been impounded there are fees that must be paid for the animal to be released. There is also a daily fee for room and board of $10.75 per day.
Dogs that are impounded and not claimed by their owner are available for adoption. There is no fee to adopt a stray but the adoption is final. If you choose to adopt a dog and the dog will be residing within the Ephrata city limits, the dog will need to be licensed with the city after having been vaccinated against rabies.
Those wishing to adopt a dog from the Ephrata Police Department are subject to a background check and approval or denial is determined by the administration staff.
